Legal

Website account, billing, and app access terms for Phase 1.

This page replaces the old prototype legal copy. It reflects the current launch model: website-managed accounts and Stripe-managed collaboration billing.

Privacy

Wriffen collects the minimum account and billing metadata needed to authenticate users, verify subscriptions, and grant entitlements inside the app.

The website stores account records, session records, verification and reset tokens, Stripe customer references, subscription status, and entitlement flags. Passwords are stored as hashes, never in plaintext.

IP address and user-agent data may be stored for fraud detection, abuse mitigation, and support investigation. They are audit signals, not the primary trust boundary for app access.

Service Terms

Website login controls access to the Wriffen app. The app may create its own local session after a successful website launch exchange, but the website remains the source of truth for identity and paid entitlements.

The free core editor is available to authenticated website users. Collaboration is the first paid add-on and may be limited, suspended, or removed if the related subscription is canceled, expires, or fails payment.

Users are responsible for invitation choices, collaborator access, and any content shared inside collaboration sessions.

Billing

Stripe handles checkout, payment method collection, subscription renewal, and customer billing portal actions. Wriffen stores mirrored subscription state and entitlement records needed to grant access in the app.

Monthly and yearly Collaboration plans are managed through the website account page and Stripe Billing Portal. Cancellations are applied according to the active Stripe subscription state and billing period.

Current Scope

  • Website-owned login, signup, verification, password reset, billing, and entitlement state.
  • Free core editor access for authenticated website users.
  • Paid Collaboration entitlement synced into the app at launch time.
  • AI Toolkit billing intentionally deferred until a later product phase.
